Households Together Making Disciples
So that they should set their hope in God
and not forget the works of God,
but keep his commandments;
Children are a blessing from the Lord; tiny disciples in our homes and in the midst of the congregation. That is why we at CrossPointe Coast invite partners (members) with young children (0-24 months) to participate in our Child Dedication Sunday.
Child dedication is an opportunity for parents and the congregation to declare our intention to faithfully point these children to Jesus as long as they are in our midst.
Please note that at least one parent must be an official partner at CrossPointe Coast.
Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.
When you entered into covenant partnership with CrossPointe Coast you committed to both intentional pursuit of Jesus in your household and to participation in the life of the congregation. We believe that these two aspects of our partnership together are essential for pointing our households to Jesus.
We will not hide them from their children,
but tell to the coming generation
the glorious deeds of the LORD, and his might,
and the wonders that he has done.
One of the more interesting things about our partnership covenant is that as soon as you make the commitments of a partner, you also are making the commitments of the congregation to the other members of the congregation. We commit ourselves to seeking the growth of the other believers, to teaching the scriptures to one another, to pray for one another, and to setting an example as faithful partners in the gospel together.
And so, this morning, I will ask the other partners in the congregation, along with any family and friends who wish to join us, in asking you to reaffirm those commitments this morning to these families and, specifically, to these children.
